Thriving Families Program
Thriving Families Program
We focus on empowering families to thrive through self-sufficiency and productive living.
Crisis Intervention and Separation Prevention
The goal of this early-response service is to remove the risk of harm to a child instead of removing the child, as well as to assist separated families in the process of reunification via parent advocacy. Families are provided a path for developing new behaviors and to make better choices for their children.
In-home Direct Services: Almost all services take place in the client’s home yet can be arranged in a conducive setting in the community if the family prefers.
Availability: 16 hours a day, 7 days a week on-call. Families are given concentrated levels of availability for close monitoring of severe situations.
Program Duration: Phase I Services are provided within a period of 4 weeks. This service is designed to resolve the immediate crisis, and to teach strengths-based, growth skills for the family resolve immediate issues to remain together. Families can either close out services at the 4-week mark, or they can enter into Phase II to get weekly case management over the course of 6 months to advance their Family Development Plans.
Family Reunification Services
This Phase II direct service works holistically to prevent separation, as well as provide a pathway to reunification for families that have already been separated via the following supportive services:
- Parenting Support and Case Management
- Parenting Skills Training
- Family Development Planning
- Empowerment and leadership (life skills) training
- Housing and Financial assistance
- Educational Enrichment & Technical Assistance for School-Aged Children
Tenant and Landlord Support
This component offers family development services to residents of Property Management Companies that provide HUD subsidies via contractual agreements for a fee. The work of this component is a liaison role between landlords and tenants, with the focus on the residents’ social and economic development goals and dreams. These services include the following:
- Tenant – Landlord Facilitation
- Parenting Support and Case Management
- Individual/Family Development Planning
- Empowerment and Leadership training
- Housing and Financial assistance
- Health & Wellness Consultation and Support
- Employment & Training Assistance
- Educational Enrichment & Technical Assistance for School-Aged Children

Youth Programming
Youth Programming
- LEAP (Leadership Engineering Academy Program)
- Back-to-School Blast Mini Camp
LEAP:
LEAP Programs components include Workforce and Career Development, STEM and Academic Enrichment, Leadership and Empowerment, and Supportive Services.
BTS Blast Mini Camp:
Activities include: Academic and leadership assignments and discussions, a Leadership Lunch, Kite-making project, Trips sponsored by Tickets for Kids, Field trip to the ECO Center for an awesome learning experience, a visit from Pittsburgh Police, water-fun activities, and more.
